Viewing Notes

Wanted to revisit this classic after watching Yul Brynner in the first two Magnificent Seven films as his character here is based off that iconic role. It’s sad that he took this gig bc he was broke and not bc he wanted to reprise this character. He’s excellent ofc and really the best thing in the movie. This was the scariest movie I saw as a child and the only one to give me nightmares. Ironic given that Magnificent Seven was one of my favorite childhood movies.

Rewatching it now is a completely different experience but I still love that this movie affected me so much as a kid. Very clear observing how Brynner‘s gunslinger influenced Arnold’s Terminator. Also,  Crichton writing Jurassic Park after making this movie makes so much sense.
