Viewing Notes

aka Sengoku: Iga no ran

The low ratings for this in Seiji Chiba’s ninja trilogy are understandable. This is mostly drama intrigue with very little action. Also set in the same cave as the other films but so darkly lit it’s difficult to see anything on screen. And ninety percent of the movie takes place in the cave as they interrogate a female prisoner, a supposed kunoichi. I actually appreciated this over another actioner bc it’s an interesting mystery. However, the near darkness of the most of the scenes hurt the film.
